What Are Technical Signals?

Technical signals are the crawl-and-render basics an engine needs to read a page cleanly — the secure connection, the declared language and encoding, the canonical URL, and whether the page is open to indexing at all. They are the floor everything else is read on.

Each is defined the way a customer would read it — plainly, with no fix instruction and no data source named. DNA Match counts a signal only where the winners in your market clearly separate from the trailing pages.

Served over a secure connection (HTTPS): Whether the page is served over a secure, encrypted connection rather than plain, unprotected HTTP.
Declares a canonical URL: Whether the page names its own preferred address, so duplicate versions do not split its ranking signals.
Mobile viewport declared: Whether the page declares how it should size itself on a phone — the baseline for a mobile-friendly layout.
Page language declared: Whether the page states which language it is written in, so engines and assistive tools read it correctly.
Character encoding declared: Whether the page declares its character encoding, so every symbol and accent renders as intended.
Open to search indexing: Whether the page is open to search indexing rather than held back from the results.
Site icon present: Whether the site shows its small icon in the browser tab and in results — a quiet mark of a finished site.
